Sandra was diagnosed with dementia in her early 50s, and had been trying to make herself dinner but – forgetting what she was pouring – put water into boiling oil. The flames reached the ceiling!
Yet Sandra’s PIP rejection letter, stated: “You can prepare and cook a simple meal unaided.”
Sandra’s arthritis also means she has limited movement. Yet, she scored zero on all parts of the Pip assessment, making her ineligible to receive the benefit. It took just under a year for their claim to even be answered.

THE WORSE AUSTERITY CUTS HET TO COME
Carer’s Allowance only to those eligible for Universal Cut, so cut to 40 per cent of claimants.
DLA, PIP and Attendance Allowance to be taxed.
Council tax support put inside Universal Credit, when already will absorb housing benefit.
If no benefits, no automatic NI credits.
The flat state pension will not pay any state pension for 10 years or less NI history.
Whereas as now 1 year NI record and above pays some state pension.
