Dodgy Duncan is probably thinking he should have switched to Justice Minister when Cameron gave him the chance. Yes Labour did bring in Atos, but it was the Tories who re-negotiated their contract before the scheme could be tested safely. As a result many have died (even coroners directly name the DWP as being a major factor in some of these deaths).
As John McDonnell MP stated on Hansard (27th February 2014 column 426) “The work capability assessment was flawed from the start. It stemmed from the work of the American insurance company Unum, and the so-called biopsychosocial model of disability assessment. That was exposed as an invention by the insurance companies simply to avoid paying out for claims.” So we know the whole thing is not about helping disabled people fulfill their potential as IDS keeps saying. It’s about money. It’s about the austerity which was disproportionately targeted toward sick and disabled people. This also exposes Cameron as a liar because he stated the people with the broadest shoulders would bear the brunt of the cuts. Now you know you simply cannot trust what Cameron says.
