It seems residents of David Cameron’s constituency of Witney are becoming concerned that their village is about to be fracked. They have created an e-petition to ban fracking in Witney.
The outcome of this could prove to be interesting due to this being a place where previously support for David Cameron was so great. If he decides to intervene and ban fracking in the area then everyone else would see it as favouritism. If he doesn’t ban it then it could threaten his future existence as an MP.
Mr Cameron was asked about fracking in Witney and he said “If the locally led planning process had been followed and approved, then yes.”
Last year it emerged that a 347 square-mile expanse of Oxfordshire had been identified as a possible source of shale gas by the British Geological Survey.
Meanwhile here’s the link should you wish to sign the petition against fracking in Witney.
